Xpulse

Early diagnosis of Breast Cancer using innovative laser-driven X-Ray sources and phase-contrast X-Ray imaging

The X-Pulse project is a collaborative R&D project targeting early, reliable, breast cancer diagnosis with lower patient dose. The consortium will build a pre-clinical X-Ray imaging prototype, based on innovative technological bricks, such as an intense X-Ray source based on ultra-fast lasers, and a novel phase-contrast X-Ray imaging approach. Expected outcomes include better breast cancer screening, early diagnosis providing less invasive treatments and better prognosis.

The XPulse project is structured around 5 teams with complementing areas of expertise: Alphanov (coordinator), Amplitude Systèmes, Celia, Imagine Optic, Institut Bergonié.

 

X-Pulse is funded by the Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine & FEDER.

MicAO 3DSR demonstration site at Zurich ETH

Imagine Optic, the worldwide leader in wavefront sensing and adaptive optics, is pleased to announce that the latest iteration of MicAO 3DSR adaptive optics plug & play device for microscopy has been installed at Zurich ETH ScopeM imaging facility (director Dr. Gabor Csucs, manager Dr. Dorothea Pinotsi). This device is implemented on the latest Nikon N-STORM 5.0 microscope setup and is dedicated for single molecule super resolution methods, such as PALM, STORM and SPT. The correction of aberrations using MicAO 3DSR for these methods allows to detect at least 50% more photons and to improve 3D localization precision, typically up to 10nm. The device will be used by ScopeM imaging facility users and also will serve as another MicAO 3DSR demonstration site.

Euronews – VOXEL project

Imagine Optic, within the EU-funded VOXEL Project, develops disruptive 3D X-Ray imaging systems at very low-dose, as an alternative to X-Ray tomography. Success in this technology will open a novel route to drastically reduce the dose absorbed by the patient when 3D Imaging is required, thus minimizing the overall examination risk while keeping a good diagnosis performance.
